Silence

In the midst’s of the crowd, the noise and the party, a hectic schedule, a zillion social calls and the time out with friends… There comes a time one craves for silence! Some time with oneself… It’s difficult to explain the need for this silence but its much needed and wanted in order to re-bond with yourself… Or maybe that’s just something I feel or need once in a while…

Have you ever felt the need to cut of and take a break to reconnect with yourself? Sit and think over the days just gone by? What is my next step? How do I want to go about it? One should take a step back once in a while and reflect on the present and what’s ahead. It need not be to plan for what’s going to happen but more on how the choices you made affect your present or the choices you make today will affect your future.

In the routine of our everyday lives, we somewhere forget the essence of taking some time with ourselves. In the rat race to succeed or to make it big… we forget to take a moment off to love and embrace people around us and ourselves. The more we as try to achieve and make it big the further away we move from those for who we want to achieve these things. Most of us don’t stop and reflect... we just keep moving forward… and some of us end up doing that with closed eyes.

Our eyes are so set on the destination, that we forget to enjoy the journey. And for some people their eyes are set on the need to make it to the destination that they sometimes forget what their destination is. University life is considered one the best years of ones life. We all set foot in college with the dream to hold a degree at the end of it but the day we get the degree is one of the most nostalgic days of ones life. Well that’s because when in college we are enjoying the journey to get to that degree. We take each day as it comes one step at a time… and make the most of what we have. At least I can say that about my university days.

In the end all our destinations are the same but all of us have a different journey to undertake. And once in a while it’s pleasant to step into the comfort of silence and reflect on where are we coming from and where are we headed. Because its not the destination but the journey that counts!

What is Religion?

In the world we live consists of many kinds of people; each unique in their own different ways… each holding there own set of beliefs that build from the teaching of their families, the society they move around in and their own experiences. But yet we all forget the basic fundamentals of where it all crops up from and the essence of its existence. For example we all follow some from of religion that is mostly given to us by the views and teachings of our family, but we forget to understand what is religion?

What is religion? Is it the rituals we perform or the prayers we offer or the books that comprise its teachings? A lot of us seem to be following it with closed eyes I feel, because for me I define religion as a way of life. The rituals that are to be performed are based on the practicality of the old times and are being dragged forward aimlessly; which at many times contradicts the modern way of life we all lead. They are a nice way of keeping the old heritage alive but certain ideas and ideologies’ should be understood and amended based on the circumstances we live in today.

We all do a zillion things on the name of religion, but forget the basic duties we all have towards each other and the basic core of every religion, that’s humanity. We discriminate even though we know that’s wrong! And it’s sad how people are encouraging discrimination in order to spread a religious movement or build up on their political vote banks. We fight wars, offend or kill people, create terror all in the name of religion. Is this what we are being taught? What about all the teachings by the great saints of the world… the core of every religion… that tell you that “if you can’t do something good for someone then at least don’t do anything that might hurt them.” Where have these teachings got lost? Why is there so much hatred in this world when we hardly have time to love?

It has to stop somewhere and it will stop some day. But how it will stop? Well that’s a decision we all make collectively… not by collective decisions of political or religious polices but through our individual choices.

Jumbled Mind

Seeing people around me and their lives… I came to observe a common thread in a lot of us. It really makes me wonder… as to why it is so easy to believe in the worst case scenario or in seeing the worst in others and its so hard to believe that good things can happen and appreciating the people around us. Is it really that hard? Have we all really become that cynical? If yes, then STOP and Think!

We all are different and we all function, work and think differently… So we are all likely to act differently in different situations… But that doesn’t make any person right or wrong as long as the intension behind the action is not based on a negative foundation… Why the constant doubt? We doubt others intentions, we doubt ours and others capabilities, we doubts ours or others feelings… Why the constant insecurities? Why don’t we trust our ambitions, dreams, love, trust, etc. more than succumbing to our fears, insecurities and doubts?

Think about your dreams and aspirations not about your mistakes and failures; think about the little little things that others have done to make you happy not the ones they forgot! Because we all have our own journeys to follow which intersect with the journeys of those around us. But we can only be happy and in harmony by appreciating ourselves and others… In a world where we all live; clashes are bound to happen! But don’t let that break your wall of sanity, security and trust… Cause that just makes things more complicated…

Life is a choice we make at every step and it’s for us to choose what we want in it! So at the end of the day it’s your choice to either fill it with fears & doubts or happiness and love. Because all of it is a state of mind… that we choose for ourselves depending on the situations we face… and sometimes we can’t change what we are faced with but we can choose the way we look at it!
